Do you enjoy reading after a long day?
If so, here are three bookstores where you’ll find everything from thrillers to science fiction:
Lake Forest Book Store
The Lake Forest Book Store was established in 1949 by twelve women who loved to read. The shop moved to the historic James Anderson Building in 2016, and features a well-read staff that loves to make recommendations. It offers a cozy atmosphere, and the shelves are lined with nearly all genres.
The store also offers a book club on the third Tuesday of every month. It starts at 7:00 p.m., and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.
The Book Bin
When four wives and mothers decided to become business owners, The Book Bin was born. The year was 1971, and today the shop is a favorite among avid readers. When Alli Gilley turned sixteen, she rushed to the bookstore to apply for a job. She became the owner in 2015 and enjoys offering an environment for discovery.
Sheila Whalen leads lively book discussion groups on the first Thursday of the month. They run from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and participants save twenty percent when they purchase the covered book.
When Barbara’s opened in the early 1960s, it was a large, shambling bookstore with creaky wood floors. Today, the shop has a reputation for offering a high-quality selection and informed service. It’s recognized by the Chicago Tribune as one of the “100 Best Things About the City” and is also noted for hosting the best author events. The staff is friendly, and genres include mystery, western, and historical romance.
Along with these bookstores, The Mil’ton is also near fine dining destinations and world-class attractions. To call our community home, please contact us. We’ll schedule a tour where you can see our offerings firsthand.Back to all posts
